Alsace :: France
The roots of the Zeyssolff family in Alsace go back to the 16th century. In 1574, two Zeyssolff brothers, a lawyer and a judge, received coat of arms for services rendered to the city of Strasbourg. In 1778, Jean-Daniel Zeyssolff, wine-grower in Gertwiller, founded the wine estate G. Zeyssolff. Since 1997, Yvan Zeyssolff has perpetuated the family tradition in the charming village of Gertwiller, on the foothills of the Mount St. Odile, between the plain and the hills. Gertwiller is reputed for its Gewurztraminer, its flagship grape that strives particularly well on the local clay and limestone soil.
