South Island :: New Zealand
Tohu (pronounced Tor-who) is the world’s first Maori owned wine company. Since 1998, we’ve been making our mark on the world with wines produced from New Zealand’s premier grape growing regions. Maori are the indigenous people of Aotearoa – New Zealand. True to our heritage, we have a strong spiritual connection to everything we grow and a responsibility to ensure our land is passed onto future generations in pristine condition. As custodians of our land, we are committed to conserving the environment; a tradition of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of Papatuanuku (Earth Mother). Our participation in the wine industry reinforces our values and vision for the future. Our wines are a superb example of varietal excellence with a unique and distinct appeal. Yet, they are more than a product of our skill as winemakers. Tohu (meaning sign or signature) wines are a sign of our integrity as wine producers and custodians of the rugged yet fertile soils of our country Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Pale green with light golden notes this wine is bright and fresh in the glass.
The nose shows some melons, tropical fruit and citrus with more complex developed notes of butterscotch and creamy, brioche aromas.
Following through on the palate there are more fruits in the tropical spectrum; particularly honey dew melon and pineapple. Textured and mouthfilling the wine still has lively fresh acidity and finishes clean and crisp with a lightly phenolic grip and balanced alcoholic heat.
