Il Palazzone is a niche estate producing prestigious Brunello di Montalcino. The estate has existed for almost twenty years and is run by a husband and wife team. The property runs to roughly ten hectares; beautiful woodlands, vineyards and olive groves. Our annual production rarely exceeds 1.000 cases and we take great care at every level, from the vineyard to the cellar. We have three vineyards in quite different areas of Montalcino which means that, thanks to microclimate and variety of terroir, we have three complementary aspects of Montalcino in each of our Brunellos. We are not certified for organic production yet we are following an organic regime on the property. We are also extremely concerned about the sustainability of our product; the posts in our vineyards are locally sourced, our new cellar will be solar-powered, we have light-weighted our bottles and made our packaging both recycled and recyclable. Traditional aging times for Brunello are respected and the wine often receives three or more years in wood instead of the two years specified by the DOCG regulations. In vintages of exceptional high quality a Riserva is produced which spends a further time ageing in wood. Our Brunello, if stored correctly, can be enjoyed after many years of cellar aging. Our wines show elegance, balance and austerity and are a sincere expression of terroir and the particularities of each vintage.
